The Lido di Riva San Vitale, rated among Switzerland's most beautiful lidos, and the Fornaci di Riva San Vitale, a restored 19th-century brick kiln site now used as a cultural and ceramics centre, are both nearby. The Monte Generoso cogwheel railway departs from Capolago station, a short walk away, climbing to panoramic views over the Alps and the lakes. Boats from Capo Lago reach Morcote, voted Switzerland's most beautiful village, and the city of Lugano, both within around 15 to 20 minutes. Monte San Giorgio, a UNESCO World Heritage fossil site with a museum in Meride, is about a 10-minute drive, and Mendrisio, known for its wine cellars and outlet shopping, is around 15 minutes away. Ticino's wine region, known for Merlot, is a 20 to 30-minute drive. Lugano Airport is approximately a 30-minute drive.
